Pracsol Inc. ("the Company") provides the EarStep app ("the Service") in compliance with the Personal Information Protection Act of Korea and related laws, and handles users' personal information as described below.
The Service is used without sign-up. We never ask for your name, email address or phone number. The following information is generated or collected automatically while you use the Service.
| Item | Details | When |
|---|---|---|
| Anonymous user identifier | A random identifier the server creates when the app is first launched. It is not linked to a name or email. | First launch |
| Learning records | Scripts listened to, comprehension answers and results, dictation input and results, replay counts, progress state, settings (listening speed) | During learning |
| Device and app information | Operating system (Android/iOS), app version, timestamps of learning events | While using the Service |
| Subscription information | Transaction identifier, subscription product ID and validity period issued by the store. Payment details such as card numbers are handled by the App Store / Google Play and never reach the Company. | On purchase, renewal or restore |
| Advertising information | Whether and when an ad was requested and shown (Company records). The Google AdMob SDK may collect device advertising identifiers to serve ads (see section 5). | When ads are shown to free users |
The "answer by voice" feature uses the device microphone. Speech is converted to text by the speech recognition built into your device's operating system (Android/iOS); the Company never receives or stores audio recordings. Only the recognized text is kept on our servers as part of your learning records. The operating system's speech recognition is governed by the privacy policies of the device maker and OS provider (Google, Apple). You can learn with the keyboard without granting microphone permission.
The Company entrusts the following providers with processing, which may involve storage or processing by foreign entities or on servers abroad.
| Processor | Task | Items | Country · when · how |
|---|---|---|---|
| Supabase, Inc. | Database, authentication and server function hosting | Anonymous identifier, learning records, device/app information, subscription information | Republic of Korea (Seoul, AWS ap-northeast-2) · while using the Service · network transfer — the servers are in Korea, but the processor is a foreign entity, so we disclose this as a cross-border transfer |
| Google LLC (AdMob) | Ad serving | Advertising identifier and other device information collected by the SDK | United States · when ads are shown · network transfer |
| Apple Inc. / Google LLC | Subscription billing and receipt verification | Transaction identifier, subscription product ID | United States · on purchase or renewal · network transfer |
You may refuse cross-border transfer, in which case use of the Service may be limited.
You may at any time request access to, correction or deletion of, or suspension of processing of your learning records. Because the Service does not collect names or emails, please include your "My learning ID" shown at the bottom of the app's Settings screen (the copy button copies the full ID) so we can locate your records. Send requests to the contact below. Deleting the app removes the records on your device, but server records are deleted only on request.
The Service is not directed at children under 14 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14. If we learn that a child under 14 has used the Service, we destroy that information without delay.
